Sips in the City

We invite you to share in an interactive five course meal as we recreate the menu from this year’s ‘Sips in the Sticks’ and share stories and anecdotes from this Coonawarra experience.

In June of this year, Chef Ben Williamson and Richie Lonie joined Sue Bell and her Coonawarra friends to host the annual Bellwether Wines ‘Sips in the Sticks’ at Sue’s Glen Roy property. The day was a celebration of locally sourced produce and beautiful wines.

On Tuesday the 5th of December we will be hosting ‘Sips in the City’ with Sue Bell, Chris Fullerton and Ben Williamson.
Sue will be matching her award winning wines with Ben’s menu that celebrates South East Queensland’s produce.

Domaines Schlumberger X Gerard's Bistro

Join Gerard’s Bistro on Monday July the 24th for a journey through the wine country of Alsace, as we uncover the secrets that continue to make the Schlumberger Vineyard one of the most respected in France.

Today the vineyard is owned and maintained by
Alain Beydon-Schlumber (6th gen) and Severine and Thomas Schlumberger (7th gen), who together are custodians of this unique 140 hectare vineyard surrounding the village of Guebwiller.

The Domaines Schlumberger Vineyard produces 100% of their own fruit, creating the palatable earthy, rich tones that are synonymous with the history of the longstanding vineyard.

Together with Domaines Schlumberger, Gerards Bistro is excited to bring you this hidden treasure all the way from France and indulge you in a culinary experience as we continue to carry on the legacy that is Gerard.

A night with Somer Sivrioglu

Ben Williamson is pleased to welcome Australia’s godfather of Turkish cuisine, Somer Sivrioglu of Sydney restaurants, Efendy and Anason to Gerard’s Bistro.

On Thursday the 22nd of June, Somer will be showcasing the best of Istanbul’s vibrant dining scene, serving up a banquet of recipes from his award-winning cookbook Anatolia. Born in Istanbul, Somer worked at his Mother’s restaurant where he gained his passion and understanding of Turkish cuisine, earning him a well deserved reputation throughout Australia as a chef, restauranteur and author.

Reminiscent of The Ottoman Empire, the menu will explore the delights of Somer’s heritage in a four course shared banquet matched with a selection of beverages.

NU NU'S COLLABORATION

Gerard’s Bistro invites Head Chef Nick Holloway of North Queensland’s acclaimed Nu Nu Restaurant into the kitchen for an intimate dinner on Tuesday the 21st of February.

This won’t be the first time that these Two Hatted Chef’s have crossed paths as Gerard’s Bistro won ‘Restaurant of the Year’ and Nu Nu won ‘Regional Restaurant Of The Year’ at the Brisbane Times Good Food Guide Awards 2016.

While Gerard’s draws inspiration from Middle Eastern and Southern European influences, Nu Nu focuses on fresh, local produce and embracing our tropical climate through spices and flavours.

The dinner will be a share style, five-course degustation menu, where Williamson and Holloway’s styles will compliment each other.

A JAPANESE WAY… GERARD’S MEETS JAPAN.

Nancy Singleton Hachisu renowned author of ‘Preserving The Japanese Way’ and ‘Japanese Farm Food’ will be hosting a dinner with Ben Williamson on Tuesday, 18th of October.

TABUTHA

As one of the Australian Financial Review’s Top 500 Restaurants, Gerard’s Bistro has been invited to create a dinner called Tabutha.

Head Chef Ben Williamson will take you on a culinary journey to ancient Babylonian times and will pay homage to the birthplace of cuisine. Inspired by his recent travels to Lebanon, Ben explored the untouched mountains of Chouf and the seaside town of Batroun. During this time Ben discovered two books containing age old cooking methods, ’The Annals of the Caliph’s Kitchens’ by Ibn Sayyar al-Warraq and ‘The Medieval Cuisine of the Islamic World’ by Lilia Zaouali. By using these 2000 to 3000 year old recipes, his intention is to breathe life into a lost artform through this otherworldly feast.
